Sources of Quran

I've been reading lately many books about Islam; Qur'an and the prophet Mohammad written by Orientalists, and it interested me a lot to notice that most of them agree that the Sources of Quran are mainly the Holy Book and in addition Zoroastrian and some ancient pagan customs, without paying any attention to the fact that Qur'an was meant to abolish most of the dogmas of these religions; here I tried to sum up some of the differences I see in Qur'an which make me believe that it's a uniquely different text; Unique enough to deny the theories that it's just been borrowed from the Holy Book.

1. Qur'an is a Different Form : Unlike any previous revelation from God to mankind that has been known at the time of Mohammad, Qur'an is the direct speech from God, the words of God revealed to the Prophet through the Holy Spirit, just like God told Moses (PBUH)"I will raise up a Prophet from among their brothers, like to you, and will put my words in his mouth." (Deuteronomy 18:18); and unlike the Bible, Qur'an never narrated a lineage nor told a complete biography of any prophet; but only mentioned glances from their lives which usually carry a certain wisdom.



2. Quran carries a Different Creed : Qur'an carries a new dogma which is contradictory to that of the Bible (or of Christians and Jews) A. with Christian One : Quran rejects the dogma of Original Sin (and even rejects idolizing Jesus) and assures that Repentance is the only way for purification from sins and Faith in God is the only way for salvation.
B. with the Jews : Quran accepts Jesus (PBUH) as the Promised Christ of the Jews.
So Mohammad (who borrowed his book from Jewish and Christian texts) chose to lose the Christians by rejecting their Trinity (when there were no Unitarian Christians nearby Arabia) ; and then decided to lose the Jews by telling them that the Christ they have been waiting for was the man they believe they crucified 600 years ago.


3. Contradictions : Quran is full of contradictions with the Old and the New Testament, not only concerning the stories of the previous prophets; but also including deep issues concerning God Himself :


Genesis 1 : 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness
Quran 42 : 11 there is nothing whatever like unto Him
112: 1 Say "He is God the One and Only. The Everlasting Absolute. He begets not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him."




psalms 87:65 Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a strong man shouting because of wine.
Quran 2:255 No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth



Exodus 31: 17 It is a sign for ever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Quran 50 : 38 We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.

So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.
Quran 6 :103
No vision can grasp Him. But His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things.

When Moses came to the place appointed by Us, and his Lord addressed him, he said: "O my Lord! show (Thyself) to me, that I may look upon Thee." Allah said: "By no means canst thou see Me (direct); but look upon the mount; if it abide in its place, then shalt thou see Me." When his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount, He made it as dust, and Moses fell down in a swoon. When he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to Thee! to Thee I turn in repentance, and I am the first to believe.

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Quran 42 : 40
The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loves not those who do wrong.
Sura Al Nahl 16 : 126
And if ye do catch them out, catch them out no worse than they catch you out: but if ye show patience, that is indeed the best (course) for those who are patient.
Sura Al Nour 24 : 22
let them forgive and overlook: do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.


كنت أقرأ في الأيام الماضية العديد من الكتب التي كتبها المستشرقون عن الإسلام والقرآن، وأثار انتباهي بشدة اتفاق
معظمهم على أن الكتاب المقدس، بالإضافة إلى الزرادشتية وبعض العادات الوثنية القديمة يشكلون المصادر الرئيسية
للقرآن ! متناسين أن الهدف الأساسي للقرآن هو إبطال هذه العادات والعقائد، وهاأنا أحاول هنا تلخيص بعض الفروق
التي أراها في القرآن، والتي تدعله في رأيي نص مختلف وفريد، متميز بما فيه الكفاية لدحض نظريات "استعارته" من
الكتاب المقدس بالتحديد.

1. القرآن صيغة مختلفة :
على عكس أشكال الوحي السابقة للقرآن - بالصورة التي وصلتنا والتي كانت معروفة زمن النبي محمد - القرآن كلام مباشر من الله، لم يحمل شكل التأويل أو النقل عن طريق طرف ثالث، تماما كما أخبر الله موسى في سفر التثنية "سأقيم لهم من وسط أخوتهم نبيا مثلك وأجعل كلامي في فمه" 18 - 18 وعلى عكس الكتاب المقدس القرآن لم يرو أبدا سلسلة نسب لنبي ولا أعطى سيرة حياة كاملة، إنما اكتفى بومضات من حياتهم تحمل في العادة حكمة معينة.


2. القرآن يحمل عقيدة مختلفة :
هذه العقيدة تتناقض مع عقيدة الكتاب المقدس - أو عقيدة اليهود والمسيحيين
أ- مع المسيحيين : القرآن يرفض عقيدة الخطيئة الأزلية (وحتى يرفض تأليه المسيح) ويؤكد أن التوبة هي الطريق الوحيد
للتطهير من الذنوب، وأن الإيمان هو طريق الخلاص الوحيد.
ب- مع اليهود : القرآن يصرح أن يسوع هو مسيح اليهود الموعود، إذاً محمد الذي اقتبس كتابه من المصادر اليهودية المسيحية اختار أن يخسر المسيحيين برفضه الثالوث (في حين لم يكن هناك أتباع للكنيسة التوحيدية بالقرب من مكة القرن
السابع) ثم قرر أن يخسر اليهود كذلك بإخبارهم أن المسيح الذي ينتظروه هو ذاك الرجل الذي صلبوه قبل 600 سنة.


3. التناقضات :
القرآن مليء بالتناقضات مع العهد القديم والجديد كليهما، ليس فقط فيما يتعلق بقصص الأنبياء السابقين، وإنما في صلب
العقيدة وما يتعلق بذات الله سبحانه:

"وقال الله نعمل الانسان على صورتنا كشبهنا.فيتسلطون على سمك البحر وعلى طير السماء وعلى البهائم" التكوين 1 :
"ليس كمثله شيء" الشورى 12

فاستيقظ الرب كنائم كجبار معيط من الخمر يصرخ عالياً من الخمر - مزامير 78 : 65
الله لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم لا تأخذه سنة و لا نوم له ما في السمو'ت و ما في الأرض من ذا الذي يشفع عنده إلا بإذنه
البقرة 255

لأنه في ستة أيام صنع الرب السماء والأرض و في اليوم السابع استراح و تنفس - الخروج 31: 17
ولقد خلقنا السماوات و الأرض و مابينهما في ستة أيام و ما مسنا من لغوب - ق38 أي لم يلمسنا تعب


وَيُكَلِّمُ الرَّبُّ مُوسَى وَجْهًا لِوَجْهٍ، كَمَا يُكَلِّمُ الرَّجُلُ صَاحِبَهُ - الخروج:33/11
ولما جاء موسى لميقاتنا وكلمه ربه
قال رب أرني أنظر اليك
قال لن تراني ولكن انظر إلى الجبل فإن استقر مكانه فسوف تراني
فلما تجلى ربه للجبل جعله دكا
وخر موسى صعقآ
فلما أفاق قال
سبحانك تبت اليك وأنا أول المؤمنين
الأعراف 143


فَدَعَا يَعْقُوبُ اسْمَ الْمَكَانِ «فَنِيئِيلَ» قَائِلاً:لأَنِّي نَظَرْتُ اللهَ وَجْهًا لِوَجْهٍ، وَنُجِّيَتْ نَفْسِي - التكوين:32/30
